Want to make your brain bigger – start joggling

juggling brain jogglingAccording to this study by some researchers at the University of Regensburg in Germany, juggling can actually make your brain get bigger. In their study they took brain scans of 24 people who didn’t know how to juggle. They then taught 12 of the volunteers how to juggle and had them practice for 3 months. At the end of this period they took brain scans of all the volunteers and found that the juggling group actually had larger brains!

So, if you want a bigger brain, learn to juggle or joggle. You can learn how by checking out one of the juggling resources on the right side of this blog.

Incidentally, the effect lasts only as long as you practice. If you stop juggling, your brain shrinks up again.

  1. I have trouble chewing gum and walking at the same time 🙂 I don’t know how you do it, but I’m sure its a sight to see you racing while joggling!

  2. JYAJ – Hey! One of my interns saw a couple of jogglers at the Philly Marathon this weekend. As I’m somewhat of a juggling lightning rod around here of course she brought it up with me. Trying not to sound like too much of a smartass (probably unsuccessfully) I told here that not only do I know about joggling, but that I was reviewed by JYAJ (7/13/06 – the site’s first review)! I logged on to prove it to her and I notice that you’ve linked me. Thank you! I’ve done the same:
This page also has links to other scientific aspects of juggling, like the research you cite above.

In the meantime, there have been lots of changes to Juggling is a Snap!:

    I’m also on YouTube now:

And I have a testimonials page:

I hope your readers stop by. I’ll let you know about my experiences after my first joggle! – JIAS
