Regular Joggling Will Improve Physical Ability Later in Life

A goal of most people is to live a long and healthy life. Unfortunately, we’re better at livingunknown joggler long lives than we are at living healthy ones. Here is some research out of the Penisula Medical School that suggests regular physical activity in middle age will improve your physical ability later in life.

In the study, 8702 people ranging in age from 50 to 69 were followed for up to six years. Their physical abilities and activities were recorded. It turned out that those who engaged in at least 30 minutes of exercise three or more days a week had only a 13% chance of a physical disability versus 24% for those who were less active. The benefit of exercise was seen even for people who were overweight.

Then get outside and start joggling. The researchers found that middle-aged people who maintained their physical activity would be better able to

  • sustain their hand grip
  • stand up from a seated position
